Payson, UT (July 12, 2021) – The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS team mounted the Dunlop sand tires this weekend as round five of the 2021 Pro Motocross Championship made its return to The Wick 338 MX facility in Southwick, MA. Joey Savatgy racked up another top 10 overall finish while Justin Bogle overcame being buried in the field to finish inside the top 17.
Joey Savatgy quickly moved his way into the top 10 at the start of Moto 1 and soon found himself having to defend his position. After briefly sliding back a few spots, the Motorex supported rider put in a late-race charge to almost put himself back into the top 10, crossing the finish line in 11th place. A solid start in Moto 2 allowed Joey to battle inside the top 10 early on. He moved into 8th place at the tail of the lead pack and started to put on a charge forward until going down just at the midway point of the race. He would remount and immediately found himself under attack from the group behind him. With Engine Ice keeping his race motor cool under pressure, Joey took the checkered flag in 10th place, earning 10th overall for the day.
“It was a good day. I had good starts that allowed me to be inside the top ten both motos. We’ll continue to make progress, a few adjustments to the bike and we will be ready for Millville next weekend. ”Joey Savatgy
Justin Bogle had a tough first moto. After going down in an early race pileup, Justin remounted outside the top 30 and marched his way forward through the field. After his charge forward, the Galfer supported rider crossed the finish line in 18th place. A bad start in Moto 2 had Justin once again working his way through the field from deep in the pack. He stayed strong, however, pushing his way to 15th place by the checkered flag to earn 17th overall for the day.
“Today was not my day. My stats were not there, and I was buried deep in the pack. The main thing is I’m leaving the wick healthy and am looking forward to Millville next weekend.Justin Bogle
The team will now travel to the Spring Creek MX in Millville, MN for round six of the 2021 Pro Motocross Outdoor Championship.
