Payson, UT (Sept. 7, 2021) – The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS team made a return to Pala MX as round 11 of the 2021 Pro Motocross Championship made its second-to-last stop of the season.
Confidence was high for Joey Savatgy after posting the 5th-fastest time in qualifying. He launched out of the gate in Moto 1 and positioned himself inside the top 5 before washing the front end in turn one. After picking himself up, the ODI supported rider sliced his way through the field to put on a charge from the back of the pack all the way to the top 10 with two laps to go. He dug deep at the end of the moto to claim 9th place at the checkered flag. A better start in Moto 2 put Joey inside the top 10 early in the race. In the hottest part of the day, the Engine Ice rider found himself in a battle for the 8th spot that lasted for most of race, eventually finishing the moto in 9th to earn 9th overall for the day.
“Today was a tough one. The track suited my style, just unfortunate that I went down in the first moto and had to battle my way back up into the top ten. I’m happy I leave here healthy and ready to finish the season off strong at Hangtown next weekend.” – Joey Savatgy
Justin Bogle had a solid start in the first moto as he positioned himself inside the top 10 early on, taking control of the 8th spot. He found his pace quickly and put on a charge to close the gap on 7th place. The FMF Vision supported rider pushed through the heat and crossed the finish in 8th at the checkered flag. Justin’s second moto went sideways as he got run over by another rider after going down in the first lap. After rejoining the race at the tail end of the pack, Justin fought his way into the top 20 before the pain forced him to pull off the track. He would still earn 14th overall at the end of the day.
“Not a bad day overall. While I had a rough second moto, I am happy with my first moto ride, especially with how hot it was out here today. I’m going to take the week to heal up, be ready for Hangtown and end the season on a high note.” -Justin Bogle
The team stays in California, traveling north to Rancho Cordova for the 12th and final round of the 2021 Pro Motocross Outdoor Championship at Hangtown MX.
