Payson, UT (Apr. 11 2021) – After a two week break, Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS traveled to Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, GA for round 13 of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross series. The track suited team rider Joey Savatgy as a solid start in the main event propelled him to his sixth top-10 finish of the season.
Joey Savatgy launched out of the gate in 450 Heat 1 and rounded the first turn inside the top 3. He didn’t stay there for long, though, and soon jumped over Eli Tomac to take over 2nd place. A few laps later, Joey took over the lead of the race from a downed Justin Barcia. After a slight mistake on the muddy track with two laps to go and a brief battle for the lead with Eli Tomac, the Engine Ice supported rider kept his cool and crossed the finish in 2nd place. Another good launch out of the start gate in the main event slotted Joey in 3rd place around the first turn. After running inside the top 5 for the first half of the race, he became entrenched in a 5-rider battle in the latter stages of the race. The ODI grips supported rider pushed hard and earned an 8th place finish at the checkered flag.
“I am happy with my ride today. My start was there, and it put me in a good position in the main. Things are trending in the right direction and I am looking forward to the next two rounds here in Atlanta.” –Joey Savatgy
After riding in practice, Justin Bogle would unfortunately make the decision to not suit up and race, stemming from the injuries he suffered at Arlington 3. Both him and the team will evaluate his health and make a decision for Tuesday night’s race.
The team will now make a quick turnaround for Tuesday’s nights race as the series continues its residency at Atlanta Motor Speedway for round 14 of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross Series.
