Payson, UT (Jan. 6, 2020) – The gate dropped for the first time this season this past Saturday night, as Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS headed to Angels Stadium in Anaheim, CA for the opening round of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series. With new sponsors Giant and 100% joining the team for the new season, riders Blake Baggett and Justin Bogle came into the season opener ready, with Blake ending the night with a top five finish.
Baggett Charges to his best ever Anaheim 1
Blake Baggett looked poised and ready as he launched off the gate in his first 450 heat race of the season, rounding the first turn at the tail end of the top ten. He continued to fight forward, passing riders to take the checkered flag in 6th spot and securing a spot in the main event. With a good gate pick, Blake used the superior traction of his Dunlop tires to hook up down the start straight in the main event and found himself in 6th place after the firs lap. He spent half of the race in a three-way battle with Ken Roczen, Cooper Webb, and Jason Anderson. After searching for fast lines on the tricky Anaheim track, Blake made his his move around Roczen and into 4th place with four minutes to go. He would close the gap on 3rd place to within a second before running out of time, taking the checkered flag in 4th place, his best ever Anaheim 1 finish.
“It was a solid night. The day didn’t start off easy, however. The track was tough and we made a few changes throughout the day, and pulled it together for the main event. We still have a few changes that we need to make on the bike and we will be ready to battle for a podium spot next weekend at St. Louis.”Blake Baggett
Bogle’s tough start to the season
Justin Bogle came into the new season with a fresh outlook, healthy and ready mix it up. In his heat, Justin overcame a mid-pack start to finish 6th and transfer to the main event. Justin would have his work cut out for him in the main, as he rounded the first turn at the tail end of the pack after getting pinched off the gate. Justin put his head
“It was a frustrating night out there. I didn’t get the starts I needed tonight and were a bit off on my settings which made it tough to push out there. I am happy to leave here healthy and I know we will get it sorted out and be ready at St. Louis next weekend.”Justin Bogle
The team now heads to St. Louis, MO and the Dome at America’s Center for round two of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series.
